New terminal to be set up at Bhubaneswar Airport

The construction work of the new domestic terminal of the Biju Patnaik Airport in Bhubaneswar, Orissa, is likely to begin soon.

The new terminal to be set up at a cost of Rs 144 crore is likely to have a capacity to handle 800 passengers, which includes 400 incoming and 400 outgoing passengers. Once the construction of the new domestic terminal is completed, this will be converted to international terminal.

Meanwhile, Naveen Patnaik, Chief Minister of Orissa, inaugurated a new parking lot at Biju Patnaik airport on 28 December 2009.

Apollo to open hospital in Bhubaneshwar by January

Apollo Hospitals is setting up a 300-bed multi-specialty hospital in Bhubaneshwar, Orissa, which is expected to become functional by January 2010.

The company has spent Rs 120 crore on the hospital which is spread over seven acre. The hospital is to have 33 critical beds including neonatal intensive care units, five operation theatres including one dedicated to obstetrics and gynaecology and eight dialysis beds.

The company is likely to expand the hospital into a 500-bed one in the future.

According to sources, the company also plans to set up the Apollo Knowledge Health City spread over 100 acre. However, the location and other details for this project are yet to be worked out.
